This is a very well-written and compelling story of the criminal underworld of Dublin, focusing on two families and their entwined relationships. There is great precision of writing style and acutely observed detail of Dublin life with authentic dialogue which gives veracity to the characters who are consequently, entirely believable. The novel is well-paced and engaging throughout, with a couple of plot red herrings which keep the reader engrossed. There is an excellent balance of narrative, characterisation and dialogue - in short, it’s a great read. Highly recommended.
